Tips and tricks

Too much glue?

Removing excess Pattex Contact Liquid is child’s play. No solvents needed, it’s that safe.

  1. Wait until the glue is dry to the touch.
  2. Then rub off the excess glue with your fingers and press into a tiny ball that you can throw away.

 

Spilled glue on your clothes?

If you get Pattex Contact on your clothes, don’t worry. It’s easy to remove.

  1. Open washing machine. Remove garment from body. Throw in washing machine. Wash at normal temperature.
  2. Remove garment from washing machine. Garment is free of Pattex Contact.

 

Need an alternative for a pressing roller?

To bond properly, contact glues only need strong, brief pressure.

Professionals use a pressing roller. No need to worry if you don’t have one yourself.

You can always use a rolling pin, bottle or something similar instead and roll the pressure evenly over the bonded parts.

 

The fine print.   

Pattex Contact Liquid is suitable for many different types of jobs, but best suited for indoor usage.

Step by step

1. Simply make sure that surfaces are clean, dry and cut to size. Either use warm, soapy water, drying with a paper towel afterwards. Or, in some cases, you can also use a cleaning solvent Roughening the spots that have to be glued also gives the glue more grip.

2. Apply glue to both surfaces and let it dry for approximately 10-15 minutes, so the solvents can evaporate. Don’t use too much glue; a thin layer will do. Use a spatula to spread the glue evenly on the surface.

3. Touch the glue to see whether you’re ready to go. If it’s dry, you can press both surfaces together. You can apply a good bit of pressure.

4. To make sure the glue bonds evenly, professionals sometimes use a roller. A rolling pin or bottle does the trick as well.

 

Leave to dry until the glue is set. And, there you are: all set to go!
